Care Forest Workers are committed to connecting with themselves, the land, and forest guests. Ideally, they live in or are local to the care forest they steward, and act as hosts to guests on restorative stays. They are committed to practicing hospitality and loving-kindness to visitors, along with a commitment to their own self-care and nature practice.
Not every care forest has to be 60 acres of Redwoods in California - a care forest could be a tree (or two) in a park that a person commits to looking after - picking up the trash, nurturing the wildlife, and practicing hospitality and kindness to people who pass by. A care forest worker might be a mental health professional who pursues this work as an important component of their career, or a volunteer who tends to a grove of trees and hosts a free listening circle there once a month.
